A new Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and Mario game will reportedly launch for Nintendo’s NX within the first six months of the new console’s launch. This news comes from a report by MCV, a trading news site that focuses on the video games market. MCV’s source also stated that Nintendo has been trying hard to secure third-party support, which is something that the Wii U struggled greatly with. A few other tidbits from the article:
- Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision, and Warner Bros are “on-board” for developing third-party software.
- The NX will be a machine that can be plugged into a TV or be played port ably.
- The graphics will be at least on-par with the Playstation 3.
Though the part about the new Zelda game should not come as news (Breath of the Wild was confirmed for the NX earlier this year), there has not been any confirmation from Nintendo or Game Freak about new Pokemon and Mario titles being released alongside the console, although it is possible they have been keeping mum about the games due to the NX still being over six months away from its supposed launch window of March 2017. As far as the third-party support goes, whether “on-board” means that a game is currently in development or that the possibility is simply open remains to be seen, however it is worth noting that Sega has already confirmed that Project Sonic 2017 (working title) will be on the NX. But, as always, take everything you read with a grain of salt.
